Railway Minister Mamta Banerjee would present the Railway Budget 2009-2010 today.
Mamata Banerjee has made it amply clear that her focus would be on improving passenger amenities and rationalisation of services such as instant ticketing (Tatkal). The major challenge that awaits her however is the Public Private Partnership projects, that the Govt. has so far failed to implement effectively.
Nominal passenger fare revision, incentives on freight transport, enhanced funding for security and seasonal passes for vendors are likely to be the highlights of the Railway Budget 2009.
