ICC ODI Rankings 2009 ICC Rankings September 2009

India has moved back up to second position in the Reliance Mobile ICC ODI Championship table following its 46-run victory over Sri Lanka in the final of the tri-nation series played at R Premadasa Stadium on Monday.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni's team had briefly enjoyed top spot in the team rankings after beating New Zealand earlier in the series but within 24 hours it had slipped to third position after it was well beaten by the home side on 12 September, the same day Australia beat England by seven wickets at Lord's to sneak ahead into second position.

But this latest victory puts India back to within a single ratings point of South Africa and with just two points separating first from third in the table, everything is set up nicely for a rankings showdown at the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, which gets underway in South Africa on 22 September.
