Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering - GATE 2009

Admission to postgraduate programmes with MHRD and some other government scholarship/assistantship at engineering colleges/institutes in India.

The results of GATE 2009 will be announced on March 15, 2009 at 10:00 hours. The GATE scores to both qualified and non-qualified candidates will be provided on the GATE websites of IISc Bangalore and seven IITs.

The Election Commission of India is an autonomous, quasi-judiciary constitutional body of India. Its mission is to conduct free and fair elections in India. It was established on January 25, 1950[1] under Article 324 of the Constitution of India. The Election Commission is one of the four pillars of the Indian Constitution, the other three being the Supreme Court of India, the Union Public Service Commission and the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.

The term of the 14th Lok Sabha will expire in the normal course on June 1, 2009. In terms of the constitutional provisions, a new Lok Sabha is required to be constituted before the June 2, 2009.

The following is the polling schedule for states announced by Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswami today:

Phase 1

April 16 - Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Orissa, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Andaman and Nicobar Island, Lakshadweep.

Phase 2


April 23 - Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Goa, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Orissa, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand.
