The First round of seat allotment for the All India Engineering Entrance Examinations (AIEEE 2009) will be made on 30th June 2009.

The allotment process will take place in four rounds:
In the First round, all the seats will be allotted to the candidates.
In the subsequent rounds, seats will be allotted against the available vacancies in the respective rounds.
In the second, third and fourth rounds no fresh registrations and choice filling will be permitted. Registered candidates will not be allowed to alter or resubmit their choices.

Delhi University has declared its second cut-off list for the admissions in its various affiliated colleges.

The second cut off for B Com (Hons) in Sri Ram College of Commerce ranges between 94.75 to 98.25 showing no decrease in the minimum criteria. Kirorimal has registered a dip of only 0.5 per cent with its cut-off ranging between 93.75 to 94.25.

The cut-off for the course
in Lady Sriram College is pegged at 94.75 per cent as against earlier 95.25, while in Hansraj admissions to the course have been closed.

In Hindu College, the cut off for the course is 94.5 to 97.5, registering only a nominal 0.5 per cent decrease from the first one. In Ramjas, it is between 93.75 and 97.5 with a decrease of 0.75 per cent.

The DU offers about 49,000 seats for its undergraduate programmes this year for which about 1.3 lakh students have applied.

CP renewal mission

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has started restoration of the busy central district built by the British and named after the Duke of Connaught. The total cost of the project is Rs 671 crore.

The redevelopment project has also been approved as the first city infrastructure development project under the JNNURM (Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission) by the Central government with a grant of Rs 252 crore.

No tariff hike for power, water

Delhiites can breathe easy as far as water and power tariffs are concerned.

The Delhi government did not hike their tariffs as expected but committed itself to improving the water supply and sewerage network by increasing the budgetary allocation for it from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1 crore in each of the 70 assembly constituencies in the city.

Water-starved South and Southwest Delhi will get a 50 MGD water treatment plant at Dwarka and a 20 MGD plant at Okhla as priority projects, announced the Delhi government on Monday.

After the failure of talks with the chief labour commissioner, the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) has called for a meeting of all bank unions under the United Forum of Bank Unions for further negotiations on wage revision and to persuade the employees to withdraw their planned June 12 strike.

Officials said the IBA had three major agendas to discuss, the most important being to persuade the unions to accept the new pension scheme, otherwise known as the contributory pension scheme, for new bank employees. Currently, the bank unions are vehemently opposing it since unions of no other sector has accepted it to date the amount of wage revision. The employees are demanding a 20 per cent hike in their salary as opposed to IBA’s 15 per cent raise.

All India Bank Employees Association, the oldest and largest national trade union centre of bank employees in India, was founded in 1946 on the 20th of April in Kolkata.
