After the meeting which held on 21st April, it was discussed that a further meeting would be scheduled on 27th April to discuss and finalise the Banks’ Association (IBA) and bank unions for the wage revision.

All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) is the largest and oldest trade union of bank employees in India. It is one of the premier trade unions in our country.

AIBEA is guided by its twin policies of (a) Progress of the banking industry to enable it to play its due role in national development and (b) Protecting and promoting the interest of the bank employees.

The United Forum of Bank Unions and the bank management’s association IBA have decided that retired bankers willing to switch over to the pension plan will have to surrender 56% of the PF, plus the interest on it.

They have also mutually decided that existing bank employees will have to share 30% of the additional pension burden while banks will shoulder the balance. Additional pension burden on account of existing employees is pegged at Rs 6,000 crore.

Latest Updates on AIBEA official website regarding the 27th April is that IBA has informed that another round of meeting with the UFBU will be held on 27-4-2010 with a view to signing the final settlement. UFBU will meet at Mumbai on 26th April to take final view of the issues involved including pension cost sharing, issue like outsourcing, etc to pave the way for signing the settlement.

The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi has announced that it will take increase the number of intake students at B.Tech Level to 850 starting from year which is definately a good news from IIT aspirants.

This move has taken by IIT delhi to accommodate 27% OBC quota which was imposed last year on IIT and other government aided educational institutes around the country.

At least 472,000 students had appeared for the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) joint entrance examination (JEE) April 11, seeking a berth in over 15 top engineering colleges across the country. Less than 9,000 students will make it to these 15 IITs through this entrance examination.

May be this move help few more students to get into IIT and make their wishes come true.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor D. Subbarao presented the annual monetary RBI Credit Policy for this fiscal year 2010-2011 today on 20 April 2010. In this new RBI Credit Policy, RBI hiked short-term lending and borrowing rates and the portion of money banks deposit with it by 25 basis points each, in a move aimed at controlling the inflation spiral without choking growth. Apex bank hiked its repo, reverse repo (overnight lending and borrowing rates) to 5.25 per cent and 3.75 per cent, respectively, while the Cash Reserve Ratio, or the portion of deposits banks park with RBI, to 6 per cent in line with analysts’ expectations.

The hike in CRR, which will come into effect from April 24, will absorb Rs 12,500-crore excess cash from the banking system. Banks have already indicated that they may not pass on the increased cost to the borrowers immediately as liquidity still remains sufficient in the system.

RBI began exiting its accommodative policy stance in January by hiking CRR to 5.75 per cent and the short term rates by 0.25 per cent each in March. Assuring that the policy actions would not halt the recovery, the RBI pegged the FY’11 GDP growth at 8 per cent. It also pegged the wholesale inflation, which is currently hovering close to the double-digits, at 5.5 per cent for FY’ 11.

Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) has rolled out several latest plans and schemes for Chandigarh in its recent status report.

The board has set for itself the target of providing houses to more than 30,000 residents belonging to different economic segments.

Sanjay Kumar, Housing-cum-Finance Secretary, UT Administration, said CHB would complete the construction of 10,816 flats in Sector 49 (Group I and II); Dhanas; Ram Darbar and Sector 26 (E) by June 2010 at an estimated cost of Rs 51.34 crore.

Also, 608 small flats in Sector 38 (Group II) will be completed by the end of the year at an estimated cost of Rs 11.14 crore.

The Board plans to take up construction of 2,108 flats in Sector 63 under the General Housing Scheme soon.

The draw of lots has already been held while tenders are being called. These flats include 336 three-bedroom flats; 888 two-bedroom flats; 564 one-bedroom flats and 320 EWS flats, all to be built at an estimated cost of Rs 414.45 crore.

So lets wait and watch that how many schemes and plans come true and how many just stay on the papers.

US citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) have started taking applications for H1B Visa for the next year. Overall 65,000 applications are offered excluding 20,000 H1B visas for applicants of US masters’ or higher degree.

USCIS has not imposed any deadline for accepting H1B applications in 2010.

A release from USCIS remarked: “Cases will be considered accepted on the date that it takes possession of a properly filed petition with the correct fee; not the date that the petition is postmarked.”

Until 2009, there was an end date or deadline to submit the application however there was an downfall after that in the number of applications made and whoe quota of 65000 was not exhausted.

May be there is no deadline this year but we'll advise the interested candidates to apply as soon as possible.
